You've built a brand that works. You have a team, a store that sells and customers who like what you do. The next stage of growth comes from optimising what you already do, with smarter use of data, technology and the human touch.
Every tool in my toolbox has one job. On their own, they're just apps. Together, they make a loop: run the business, measure what happened, act on the biggest gain, pull one growth lever, and score the result.
Treat this as a map. Not every brand needs every tool. The point is to know what each one does, so you and your team add it only when the data says that lever is where your biggest marginal gain is.
The loop runs in four stages, with one dashboard across the top:
Run the business: Shopify
Measure: Littledata, Fairing and Windsor.ai
Action: Claude, you and your team
Growth levers: traffic, content, conversion rate, average order value and retention, each with its own tools
Across the top sits Lifetimely, the dashboard that scores every change.
This article is the hub. Each of the five growth levers has its own deep-dive on why it matters and how to optimise it, linked from its section below. If you're new here, start with Why Optimise?
The dashboard: Lifetimely
Lifetimely sits across the whole loop. It answers the question that really matters: is this business making money, and is it getting better?
Lifetimely gives you real-time P&L reports, customer cohorts and dashboards. You see your true profit, and which products, customers and marketing channels are actually making money. Its AI tools then analyse the data for you and point to what to act on.
The value: every change you make gets scored here, and every next decision starts here. Without it, you're optimising blind.
01. Run the business: Shopify
Shopify is where the customer experience lives. Every change you make ships here, and every order, customer and product is recorded here.
Most brands use a fraction of what it can do. Before you bolt on another app, check whether Shopify already does the job: checkout settings, customer accounts, product data, markets, discounts and flows.
The value: one clean source of truth for the whole loop, and the place every optimisation is delivered to the customer.
02. Measure: Littledata, Fairing and Windsor.ai
You can't optimise what you can't see clearly. These three tools make sure the data you decide from is accurate, explained and in one place.
Littledata: data clarity. Tracking breaks quietly, and tag-based tracking misses orders, audiences and conversions. Littledata is a server-side data layer for Shopify, with no tag manager or developers needed. It sends accurate first-party data to Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, Pinterest and Klaviyo. Every other tool works from the truth, and your ad platforms learn from real conversions.
Fairing: customer insight. Numbers tell you what happened. Fairing tells you why. It asks customers short questions on the thank-you and order status pages, then analyses the answers against your order and lifetime value data to show your best channels. It also runs NPS surveys and syncs responses to Klaviyo, so the answers shape your emails as well as your attribution.
Windsor.ai: data into Claude. Windsor connects Claude to data from more than 350 sources, including Shopify, Meta Ads, Google Ads, GA4 and Instagram, with no code and no exports. Instead of downloading spreadsheets from six platforms, you ask one question and get an answer across all of them. On ad platforms, Claude can even take action once you approve it.
The value: decisions made from clean, joined-up data and real customer voices. Platform dashboards marking their own homework stop being the final word.
03. Action: Claude, you and your team
This is the heart of the loop. There's nothing to buy here. It's you and your team, working alongside Claude.
With your data piped in, Claude reads across the dashboard, the surveys and the channels, spots the patterns, and helps you find the biggest marginal gain. You bring the human touch: knowing your customers, your brand and what matters this quarter. Then you decide the next small change and act on it.
The value: the analysis that used to need an agency, done in an hour, in-house with the team you already have. The decision stays where it belongs: with you.
04. Growth levers
Growth comes from five levers: traffic, content, conversion rate, average order value and retention. Content feeds all the others. Each lever has its own tools. You only pull the one your data says matters most right now.
Traffic: more of the right people, without paying more for each one
SEOTesting turns your Google Search Console and AI-search data into decisions you can defend. You run time-based, split and LLM tests to prove which changes actually move rankings and clicks, and its reports explain what changed, why, and what to do next. It connects to Search Console in two clicks.
UCP Fluent gets your catalogue ready for AI shopping assistants. It adds the product identifiers (GTINs), categories and attributes that AI agents use to find and rank products, scores how agent-ready your store is, and reports which orders came from AI agents. As more shoppers ask an assistant what to buy, this is how your products get found, ranked and bought.
ADNOVA is built for brands running Meta ads at scale. Its Bulk Ad Launcher puts 100+ ads live in about a minute, importing creative straight from Google Drive or Dropbox, and its creative analytics show which ads are working. More creative tested, faster, gives Meta more to learn from, so every pound of spend works harder.
Content: give people a reason to buy into you
This lever runs on the Buy Into You framework: be the most helpful brand in your space, let the people behind it be seen, and turn one customer question a week into content for socials, articles and YouTube. It feeds every other lever: traffic you don't pay for, answers that lift conversion, and reasons for customers to come back.
TubeBuddy is a channel-management toolkit that sits on top of YouTube Studio. It helps with keyword research, titles, tags and thumbnails, makes bulk changes across videos, and on its top plan A/B tests titles and thumbnails against live traffic. For brands building a video channel, it turns content into search traffic that compounds.
Articles: SEOTesting, from the traffic lever, proves which articles actually move rankings and clicks.
Conversion rate: more visitors choosing to buy
Shoplift runs A/B and split tests on product pages, prices, landing pages and whole themes, launched straight from your theme customiser with no developers. Its Lift Assist can build experiments for you, and tests run with no page flicker. Every change to a page ships on evidence.
Jurni builds landing pages and funnels that publish straight into your Shopify store, with an AI agent to help you build them. Every campaign sends people to a page made for that audience and that offer, so they land somewhere that speaks to them from the first second.
Junip gets you more reviews, with unlimited review requests and mobile-friendly forms, and shows them in fast, on-brand widgets. Reviews also feed Google Shopping and Meta Shops. The result: more shoppers off the fence, higher conversion and fewer returns.
Average order value: each order worth a little more
Fast Bundle builds every kind of bundle: fixed, mix-and-match, multipacks, build-a-box and AI-powered "frequently bought together", plus volume discounts and BOGO offers. Build bundles around what your order data says customers already buy together, and each order is worth more.
OrderEditing.com lets customers edit their own orders before they're fulfilled. That cuts support tickets, and it turns those edits into upsell revenue, with offers at checkout, post-purchase and on the thank-you page. Extra items, added to orders that are already won.
Retention: customers coming back and buying again
Klaviyo is the email and SMS platform tied directly into your store. It automates abandoned cart, welcome, post-purchase and win-back flows, segments your customers and personalises product recommendations. Built well, and timed to how your customers actually buy, it's the most profitable channel you own.
Juo is a subscription toolkit for Shopify: curated boxes, replenishment plans and subscription bundles, with personalised add-ons and incentives that keep subscribers longer. For products people buy again and again, it turns repeat buyers into recurring revenue.
How to choose: start with the lever
The mistake most brands make is buying tools first and finding a use for them later. Work the other way round:
Look at the dashboard and find your weakest lever.
Ask what the data says is holding it back.
Add the one tool that fixes that problem, set it up properly, and measure the result.
Repeat, one lever at a time.
Your team can run this loop in-house. If you'd like a hand, I also coach founders and teams through it.
Find your biggest gain
Not sure where to start? The free Optimisation Audit shows which lever is your biggest marginal gain in about five minutes.

Disclosure: every tool here is in my toolbox because it solves an optimisation problem. Where I have an affiliate relationship with a tool, I'll always say so.
